What we do

Our lab uses spatially explicit approaches to explore the effects of global and local change on organisms. We strive to understand how these changes are impacting ecological processes by identifying patterns, understanding mechanisms behind observed changes, and predicting future outcomes. The goal of our research is to integrate ecological understanding with stakeholder involvement to inform land management decisions.

Research Themes

Our projects fall under the general themes of

• Land use change

• Climate change

• Coupled natural-human systems

• Species habitat interactions

Lab Highlights

View abstracts from lab members at the 2011 meeting of the American Ornithologists' Union in Jacksonville, Florida.

Undergraduates in the NASA Climate Change course presented their final projects from their summer internships at Coweeta LTER. Their project summaries and powerpoint slides will soon be available here.

Interested in joining the lab?

We are currently accepting applications for self-motivated graduate students interested in applying spatial techniques to inform management problems related to land use and global climate change in the Southeast. Both MS and PhD level positions are open and interested applicants should visit the prospective students page for more information.
